Details On Britain’s Longest-Reigning Monarch

The Queen of England died at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle. Many people wonder why the Queen chose Scotland to spend her final days. Fox News shared details from King Charles on why.

He told the outlet, “My late mother especially treasured the time spent at Balmoral, and it was there, in the most beloved of places, where she chose to spend her final days.” King Charles III then continued to explain that Scotland always held a special place in Queen Elizabeth and their entire family’s hearts.

Perhaps the Queen treasured it so because she spent many of her childhood days there. Afterward, she visited at least once a year towards the end of each summer. The outlet further details that she also spent the majority of Prince Phillip’s last years with him there as well.

Scotland Will Always Hold A Special Place In Queen Elizabeth’s Heart

In addition to spending final days with Prince Phillip, King Charles said that Queen Elizabeth also celebrated her 73rd anniversary there, as well. In a documentary, Princess Anne shared that the Queen had some reservations about dying in Balmoral.

Her family told her that she should make the decision based on what she felt was right. Princess Anne said, “I hope she felt that that was right in the end because I think we did.” This past summer, the king decided to continue on his mother’s tradition by visiting Scotland during the late summer. It appears that this will continue to be a special place for the Royal Family.
