Koala cuddling is a favorite tourist activity in Australia. However, we should state that koalas are wild animals, and even those in captivity may be prone to unpredictable behavior. Koalas are solitary animals, and those in captivity at “cuddling farms” may be experiencing stress from human contact. It isn’t an activity we can recommend. Perhaps it is best to leave them alone and watch a koala mom snuggle with her baby instead.
Koalas can be found in many regions of Australia. They prefer coastal regions with eucalyptus forests but can survive in other wooded areas. They do not thrive in rainforests. A suitable habitat includes a good food source and other koalas. As with almost all animals, human encroachment affects their habitat and is the greatest threat to the species.

Like kangaroos, baby koalas are called joeys. When born, they are only around two centimeters long. Born without fur, the joey will remain in the koala mom’s pouch for six to seven months. Once a young koala is old enough to be out, it will hitch rides on its mom’s back. A baby koala may stay with its mom for two to three years or until she has another joey.
We can see why this cuddly koala mom was the number one choice! Just watching this clip offers a sense of security. Both animals seem so content together.
