As strange as this may sound, residents of Venice have grown quite accustomed to periods where the flooding is this bad. That’s why you will often find that everyone seems totally unbothered. “The way the waitress just casually walks through the water,” someone points out in the comments, with another adding, “Finally, a bar floor I don’t have to mop at the end of a shift!!!”

Despite Flooding, Residents and Tourists of Venice Find Creative Ways to Adapt
“Acqua Alta,” or “high water” refers to the frequent flooding the city experiences. Although the city is not always flooded, high tides and low atmospheric pressure are said to be contributing factors. As a result, the city has been forced to find ways to live with this peculiar problem.
Luckily, this city and its resilient residents have been taking on this challenge for quite some time, often finding some of the most creative ways to adapt. How cool is that?
“But why does this look so artistic to me,” someone else shares, with another adding, “Was there when this happens. Lots of rain mixed with high tide made for a very wet day. But we had a blast!!!”
