Nhlanhla has been in the musical’s touring company for three years, but his best performance was delivered off-script that night in December!
As the entire cast stood together in a line, Nhlanhla introduced himself to the audience and explained that he wanted to celebrate how far he’s come over the course of his career.
Then he pulled a confused Daniela Cobb up beside him and said, “Since the day I met you in Charleston, [South] Carolina, you have been the most patient person I’ve ever met in my life. I’m not perfect. I’ve never claimed to be.”

That’s when another cast member handed a ring box to Nhlanhla! The audience erupted with delight and excitement while everyone onstage began to dance, but all of that faded out when Nhlanhla took Daniela’s hands in his.
“Today, I humbly put myself before you to ask you a very important question in my life,” he continued. “Daniela Cobb, in my man diaper…”

He didn’t even need to speak the words for Daniela to understand exactly what he was asking! “Of course, yes!” she cried, radiating pure joy as she jumped up and down. Then she threw herself into her new fiancé’s arms.
The atmosphere can be summed up by Elton John’s lyrics, “Can you feel the love tonight?” The answer is obviously yes!
