The audience roared to life when the “old ladies” began tearing up the dance floor. The young dancers performed an energetic routine using the walkers as props. The well-rehearsed dance recital routine had the audience mesmerized. Their eyes saw eight grandmothers on the stage doing dance moves designed to break a hip. The costumes were spot on as some girls modeled before the recital.

Named “Grannies Gone Wild,” the dance routine was hilarious from start to finish and showcased the exceptional talents of the dancers. Combining some hip-hop moves with some adapted street dancing, the girls moved flawlessly through the entire routine.

Things got a little dicey when one of the dancers fell and couldn’t get up. The girls knew just what to do, though. They dragged the broken granny off the stage and continued the dance recital.

At the Broken Arrow Dance Academy, girls learn more than dance. The instructors and choreographers believe the kids should have fun during a dance recital. They once did a routine as inflatable dinosaurs. While the routine was mundane, the deflated dinosaur in the back stole the show and kept everyone laughing.

Dance recitals can get intense with the desire to perform flawlessly. Lightening the mood and having fun helps the students gain a realistic appreciation for performance art. To see more from the Broken Arrow Dance Academy, follow them on TikTok.
