That’s certainly what happened to Louie Murillo of Texas, and now he’s using his collection to help families in need!
In the fall, Louie purchased a few Santa figurines to use as props in his family photos, and he just kept going! Now, he has nearly 1,000 Santas lighting up his front yard. He’s using his newfound local celebrity status to raise money for GRACE, a nonprofit that gives families everything they need to have a merry Christmas.
He set up a GoFundMe with an initial goal of raising $15,000, which will ensure that 120 kids get Christmas presents in his area!
There are even incentives for people who donate. Since Louie also owns a string of Chick-fil-As in Dallas, he is offering anyone who donates $2,000 or more a personal visit from Santa, along with Chick-fil-A catering for the whole family, and a special “cookies for Santa plate” filled with Chick-fil-A desserts.
A donation of any size is appreciated, but they’re not necessary to visit the “Grapevine Santa House.” The community is welcome to stop by his house every night between 5 and 10 p.m. and walk around to admire the many Santa figurines Louie has collected.
What started as a couple of funny photo props has turned into a full-blown movement! Through his Santa House, Louie is giving his neighbors a little extra joy in the midst of a difficult year – and making sure every kid has a wonderful holiday!
If it weren’t for the fact that Louie doesn’t live in the North Pole, we would be convinced that he is Santa himself! Keep up the great work, Louie!
