Lowe’s Makes Major Decision To Close All Stores For One Day

At a time when many retailers are struggling, an announcement of another store closing could make people nervous. Lowe’s recently announced it would be closing all its stores, but do not worry-it’s just for a day. Lowe’s will shutter its more than 1,700 stores on Easter Sunday, April 20, per a statement obtained by Newsweek.

CEO Marvin Ellison said in a statement, “I’m extremely proud of the commitment of our 300,000 associates who support our communities while providing excellent customer service—not only in spring, but all year-round. In recognition of our teams’ continued hard work, we are pleased to provide a well-deserved day off so they can spend Easter with their loved ones.”

In addition to Lowe’s, many other retailers close their doors on Easter to allow associates to spend time with their families. Per USA Today, stores such as Target, Costco, Sam’s Club, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, and Homegoods will be closed on Easter. Kohl’s, JCPenney, Belk, and Burlington will also close.

While physical buildings may be closed, the internet never sleeps. Shopping is always available to those who need to make purchases from their favorite retailers.

Some took to social media to share appreciation with Lowes for closing on Easter. Steve Cortes shared on X, “Wow, thank you @Lowes! What a kind gesture for the hard-working employees of Lowe’s, giving them Easter for church and family.”

This person agreed, “I shop at Lowe’s from now on.”

As did this follower, “ty lowes for lettin ur employees enjoy easter with their families :)”

Of course, there is always one joker who commented on Lowe’s closing for Easter: “Don’t worry; Home Depot will be open.”
