Lucille Ball Gave “Perfect Strangers” Star Bronson Pinchot The Most Beautiful Memory

Lucille Ball Bronson Pinchot

Lucille Ball was a trailblazer for women in show business and a comedic icon. For generations, comedic actors have looked up to Lucy and the indelible mark she made on Hollywood. She was everyone’s favorite redhead and, for many stars, seemed untouchable in the business. When Perfect Strangers began in 1986, Bronson Pinchot and Mark Linn-Baker starred as a wacky pair of cousins from different parts of the world suddenly living together in Chicago. The premise was silly and funny and helped launch the stars’ careers. At the time, Bronson Pinchot had no idea that one of his biggest fans was none other than Lucille Ball. Lucy loved him so much, she made it a point to arrange a meeting so she could tell him in person.

Bronson Pinchot Will Never Forget What Lucille Ball Said To Him That Day

The Residence star shared the incredible memory with People.

“When ‘Perfect Strangers’ first came out, after we aired two or three episodes, I got a call from a journalist who said, ‘What do you think of what Lucy said about you?’ And I said, ‘Lucy who?’ They said, ‘Lucille Ball.’ I said, ‘Lucille Ball, wait a minute. How does she know who I am?'” he told People.

Lucy said that Perfect Strangers was her “favorite show,” and she wanted to meet the stars.

Bronson said, “It really was like meeting God,” he recalled. “She was so genuine with us. … She was sexy, she was vulnerable, she was witty, she was sassy, she was warm; She had just found out that her show was not going to continue.”

Bronson Pinchot said that Lucille Ball encouraged them to keep going before he and Mark Linn-Baker left.

While posing for pictures, Lucy told them, “‘They don’t want me anymore, but they want you. You know what you’re doing, so you go and do it.'”

Bronson said he never forgot those words, and they changed his career.

“It’ll stay with me forever. I had grown up watching her. I thought she was the muse of comedy, and I had her blessing. It was amazing.”
