But something clearly changed in 2023. This is when John praised Madonna for her AIDS advocacy. Still, the two didn’t officially make amends until Madonna herself made a bold choice.
According to the caption of Madonna’s social media post, she went to see John perform on SNL. Sure, she could have avoided running into him. But instead, she chose to finally confront him face-to-face. As a longtime fan of the singer herself, she admits that his comments over the years hurt, as seen below.
So, how did John react to being confronted? Madonna says that “the first thing out of his mouth was, ‘Forgive me.'” It was at that moment that “the wall” between them “fell down.”
