Major Taco Chain “Temporarily” Closes Nearly 20 Locations

Del Taco

In 2024, Del Taco topped USA Today’s Reader’s Choice list as the best fast-food restaurant in the United States. But even being the customer’s favorite couldn’t prevent Del Taco from the effects of the economy. According to Parade, the fast-food chain abruptly closed 19 locations in Colorado. The 18 of the 19 are reportedly closed temporarily, and the company expects them to reopen “as soon as possible.”

“Del Taco is proud to have been serving the state of Colorado since 2003 and we appreciate the ongoing support of our loyal guests,” a spokesperson told the media, per Parade. “At this time, our Denver and Colorado Springs franchise locations are temporarily closed. We will reopen these locations as soon as possible and will share updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience and support.”

Del Taco Is Continuing Business As Usual On Social Media

The taco chain posted its strawberry lemonade on National Strawberry Day, February 27. Fans went to the comment section to ask about what was happening in Colorado.

One commented, “*not available in CO WHAT HAPPENED?”

Another Del Taco fan wanted answers, “WTH! I go there every weekend! Doing us dirty in Colorado.”

This Del Taco customer wanted answers: “Y’all just closed all of Colorado’s locations. We just ate there on Monday. Should we be worried about something? Y’all got the flu? Rona? Ebola? What’s up?”

The news upset this fan, too: “I’m so Sad. I try to go every weekend to get Fries and Tacos… No Fair leaving Your workers Out of Work… Bring Them Back.. They Deserve Their Job and We Deserve DT!!!”

This fan wants Del Taco to explain itself. “Justify leaving Colorado.”

Plenty agreed, “So y’all just closed Colorado and didn’t say anything wild.”
