When Amy Williams and her husband started to leave food outside of their house, it was intended for the stray cats in their neighborhood. Soon enough, though, the local raccoons decided that it was actually meant for them. Those that would visit were only there for the food, so they never stayed long. Well, almost all of them.

Even though most of them couldn’t have cared less about coming back to the Williams’ home, there was one raccoon who felt particularly at home there. Not only has she shown up multiple times, but she’s brought many visitors with her over the years.
“This mama raccoon was not shy and would come right up to our back porch and stand on her hind legs as if begging,” Amy said. “I noticed her one eye was either injured or had never formed or something, so she was easy to identify. It wasn’t long before she showed up one night with four babies!”
And just like that, a new tradition had begun. For three years, this mamma raccoon frequently visited Amy with her little ones. Still, nothing could have prepared them for the surprise she brought them this year!

“My husband and I were on the back porch, and I saw Mama come out of the woods like normal, and then came the three babies one by one … we were shocked,” Amy said.
Following behind Mom were three albino baby raccoons! Seeing such a rarity in person absolutely blew the couple away. They began to share their raccoon visits on TikTok, and folks everywhere have fallen in love with these cuties.

In fact, with the help of her followers, Amy has officially named the three adorable rarities: Cloud, Marshmallow, and Casper.
“From what I’ve read, one albino baby raccoon is about 1 in 500,000 to 750,000, and three in one litter is 1 in 10 million,” she said. “If it’s that rare, I’m so happy to be sharing it with people!”

Concerned for their safety, Amy called her local DNR and a few wildlife sanctuaries to see if they needed to intervene. Luckily, according to everyone she’s spoken with, the consensus is that “while this is very rare, they only take animals that are injured or orphaned” and that “with the lack of predators nearby, they believe they will do just fine.”

“Both Mama and I will be watching over the babies,” Amy added.
Watching these rare little ones grow is already such a joy. Between witnessing them learn how to climb trees and become large enough to climb onto their back porch, they truly have become quite the little family!
