Man Finds Engagement Ring Buried In Rubble Of His Burned Home… And What He Does Next Will Have You In Tears!

A man and woman approach their totally destroyed house from the LA fires.

The recent wildfires in Los Angeles have left an alarming number of people without a home. Still, amidst such tragedy, folks are doing whatever they can to support one another. And, for couples like Brian McShea and Stephanie Raynor, there have even been moments of joy. The couple lives in Altadena. Sadly, their home was entirely destroyed. So, with goggles and masks on, they started to rummage through the debris to see if anything was salvageable.

As you can imagine, this can be quite an emotional task. But for Brian, it was emotional for a reason that even Stephanie didn’t know. Turns out, he had an engagement ring for her, and it was in the home when the fire destroyed it. So, as the couple looked through the debris, Brian held onto hope that maybe, somehow, the ring hadn’t been destroyed. Luckily, it hadn’t been!

Overwhelmed by the miracle of finding the ring, and his love for Stephanie, Brian didn’t want to delay the moment any longer. So, instead of waiting for the “perfect” time, he got down on one knee right then and there. With tears in her eyes, Stephanie gave her boyfriend a resounding “yes!”

“I cried, I was crying,” Stephanie says. “I had my glasses with the goggles on top and they like, fogged up completely.”

Although this proposal was unplanned, they were still able to capture a bit of it on camera. This was made possible thanks to a kind woman who just so happened to pass by in that moment. When asked, she was more than happy to take a photo.

Naturally, Brian and Stephanie are thrilled to start planning for their wedding. That said, they’re also looking forward to rebuilding their life after such a devastating loss.

“Los Angeles has really been supporting Altadena and all the communities affected by fires,” Brian says. “And I’m hoping that, you know, they’re prepared to strap in for the long haul and we can build Altadena back. And yeah, we can spend some married years under the mountains.”
