Mariah Carey’s voice is incomparable. The diva can hit notes that other musicians dream about, and she’s taken home six Grammys for her incredible musical talents, among other awards. Mariah Carey attended the iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 17th to receive the Icon Award. The 55-year-old sat in the audience as Tori Kelly sang a cover of her hit Always Be My Baby and Muni Long covered We Belong Together. Both the songs are classic Mariah tunes that fit perfectly into her catalog. Singing a Mariah Carey song in front of Mariah Carey would definitely be nerve-wracking, and some think Muni cracked under the pressure.

Mariah Carey Seemed To Have Mixed Emotions During Muni’s Performance
This person thought Mariah hated the cover and wrote on X, “She turned like ‘Why are you enjoying this?’”
This person agreed, “She was NOT impressed and I don’t blame her.”
Others noticed the baffled look on Mariah Carey’s face.
“Her watching people massacre her songs,” someone shared on X.
There were plenty of jokes. Like this one, “The look you make when the person sitting next to you farts, and you know who did it.”
But not everyone thought Mariah Carey hated the cover. A post on TikTok found many people praising Muni and showed Mariah smiling in the crowd.
One person shared, “Y’all gonna sit here and act like she didn’t eat that? Mariah lives for rasp.”
This person thought Mariah looked like she loved it. “If you’re a Mariah fan you know she LOVES switching up melodies and making performances different so I will NOT let yall act like this is BAD when it is vocally impressive and PURPOSEFUL vocal choices.”
There is only one Mariah Carey, and this person thinks Muni wanted to make the performance her own. “She ate, y’all just expected her to do a copycat version, and she did her own and ate down.”
