McDonald’s Announces The Return Of A Fan-Favorite Menu Item

There are lots of fun ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. For example, the Windy City transforms the Chicago River into a bright green color every year. But what about some tasty food that fits the theme? McDonald’s is the place to go. As expected, they recently announced the return of the beloved Shamrock Shake. This mint-flavored milkshake is a fan-favorite, making its return this month a delight to many.

But this year, McDonald’s has more to share than the iconic shake itself. You may have noticed lately that the fast food restaurant has been leaning into nostalgia. Take, for example, their recent collab with Pokémon. Another way they’ve done this is through bringing back some of its McDonaldland characters. The most popular, of course, is Grimace.

This fuzzy, purple creature skyrocketed back to fame with the Grimace Birthday Meal back in 2023. Now, he’s back to help promote the Shamrock Shake — but he’s not alone. Accompanying him is Uncle O’Grimacey!

Although he looks much Grimace, there are some key differences. For starters, Uncle O’Grimacey is a lime green color. Plus, he wears a hat and vest. McDonald’s included him in previous ads for the Shamrock Shake, but he hasn’t been around for decades.

“This Shamrock Season celebration came to life when Grimace stumbled upon his family’s original Shamrock Shake recipe,” a McDonald’s press release reads. “That discovery sparked Grimace to reconnect with his vibrant, joyful, and generous uncle, Uncle O’Grimacey.”

For every Shamrock Shake purchased, 25 cents will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Want one of these tasty treats yourself? You have until at least March 23, just a few days after St. Patrick’s Day on March 17!
