For sports fans, there’s nothing quite like taking in a game live from the stands. There’s something about seeing your favorite players up close and person that makes it much more exciting. Occasionally, a lucky fan might catch a ball or receive an autograph from a player. Those moments are rare, but they make being there much more special.

The Miami Dolphins recently took on the Las Vegas Raiders, and after catching a touchdown pass, tight end Jonnu Smith decided to make a fan’s day. As players often do, Jonnu tossed the ball into the crowd and into the hands of his biggest fan. No, it wasn’t someone who followed his career for decades. It wasn’t a little old lady who never missed a Dolphins game. This fan tops them all. Jonnu chucked that ball into a sea of more than 50,000 fans, and it landed in his own son’s lap. If he’s tried, the pro baller likely couldn’t have made it happen.

Jonnu Smith Had No Idea Where His Family Sat During the Dolphins’ Game When He Threw The Football
Jonnu Smith, who was playing his first season with the Miami Dolphins, shared with the Pat McAfee Show the toss was pure luck.
“I didn’t even know they were sitting over there. I think I found out later,” Smith said. “It was not until the second half that I saw them. Later in the fourth quarter, one of the guys came over to me and said my girl is sitting with your family, and they caught the ball. Not only with my family but with my oldest son,” he said.
The Dolphins star said his son catching that football was a divine intervention.
“After the game, they came and told me it landed in my oldest son’s lap,” Smith said. “I am glad we got the footage. Nobody would have ever believed it. It was an out-of-body experience. I just chucked the ball up and it literally ended up in my son’s lap. God makes no mistakes. That was God’s time right there.”
