Recently, TikTok was graced with one such video thanks to U.S. Marine Corps Master Sgt. Michael “Mike” Fisher. The moment instantly went viral as people across the world were moved to tears by this touching example of a father’s love for his son.
From the second he began the ceremony, we could see just how much pride was emanating from this dad’s heart!
“I’ve watched you grow and mature and become the man that you are today,” he told his son. “You have always been respectful, by saying, ‘Yes sir,’ ‘No sir,’ ‘Yes, ma’am,’ and ‘No, ma’am.'”
As many viewers have noted, the milestone was especially poignant given their rankings within the military. As the Department of Defense has committed to making diversity a priority, this impressive duo is leading to significant representation.
“A salute is a sign of respect. It is a privilege to render you your first salute,” Mike continued, nearly in tears. “But it is a greater honor to say, ‘Congratulations, sir, on your commissioning.'”
With that, the father and son gave each other a salute worth a thousand words!
Thank you, Master Sgt. Michael Fisher, for touching all of our hearts by sharing this precious moment with us, and thank you to every member of the armed forces for your courageous service.
