But did you know that there are some Olympic athletes who are able to compete while pregnant? Yaylagul Ramazanova, an archer from Azerbaijan, is one of them.

Ramazanova, who is 34 years old, has so many accomplishments to be proud of — for starters, this was her very first time competing in the Olympics. To make the situation even more special, she is only the second archer to represent her country. But despite any pressure she was feeling, she certainly did a fantastic job, all while six months pregnant! Watch a clip of her in action below.
“During the training for the Olympics, I didn’t feel uncomfortable with my pregnancy,” Ramazanova shares. “Instead, I felt that I was not fighting alone but fighting together with my baby.”
That feeling only intensified during one particularly special moment during the games. During it, Ramazanova got a perfect shot — but that’s not what makes this moment so unforgettable.

“I felt my baby kick me before I shot this last arrow,” she explains, “and then I shot a 10.”
Wow! Can you imagine how special that must have been for this athletic mom? So, although Ramazanova didn’t make it past round 16, there’s no doubt she left her mark at the Olympics. I mean, what an incredible story for her child to hear about one day! Plus, it’s clear that her time at the Olympics has made an incredible, lasting impact on people all around the world.
