A mom on social media just shared the most heartwarming thing she does with her kids around back-to-school time each year, which she calls “practice donuts.” It’s a pretty simple idea, and it’s very cute! In order to help her kids get used to waking up and getting dressed each morning, this mom starts adhering to the fall schedule before school actually starts. While this doesn’t sound like much fun, she’s come up with a brilliant way to turn early rising into an exciting activity.

Once her kids practice getting ready for school, Mom takes them out to get donuts for breakfast instead! After that, she shares some quality time with them at the park. What a unique way to fit in some more family bonding before the start of the school year!
“My favorite back-to-school tradition is ‘practice donuts,'” the woman wrote in her social media post. “We get up and get ready at school time, but we go get donuts and coffee. We take it to the park and play. We talk about school and friends. And then I just watch them and remember how little they were last year at this time.”
She added, “I’m planning on doing this with my kids right up until they leave for college.”
This mom is inspiring others with her “practice donuts” idea.
Other parents on social media absolutely loved this mom’s tradition of getting “practice donuts” with her kids before the school year starts. Many said they were planning to try this idea with their own children!
“My oldest is going into kindergarten this year, perfect time to start this,” said one user.
Another added, “Ugh I love this! Will be doing this in a few years!”
A third wrote, “This is absolutely adorable!! I’m stealing this thank you for a future core memory!”
We hope that “practice donuts” becomes a trend. It’s such a wonderful way to get kids excited about school while helping them prepare for the coming year!
