One man’s trash is this Labrador retriever’s treasure — literally! A woman on social media recently caught the most hilarious footage of her neighbor’s dog dragging a full garbage bag down the street. This pooch looked so happy with their parcel, you’d think it was a sack of delicious treats! Well, to a dog, it was probably the next best thing.

This excited Labrador retriever came running down the street toward their neighbor with the trash in tow, wagging their tail excitedly. Unfortunately, they were carrying the bag by the bottom, which meant that they were leaving a trail of garbage behind them.
“Whatcha got?” the neighbor asked the dog in a friendly tone. “Got a bag of trash?”
In her caption, she added, “Took a morning walk around my block and the neighbour’s dog greeted me like this.”
Dog lovers in the comments section found the video all too relatable.
“Very on brand for a black Lab, especially the whining at the end,” wrote one user.
Another added, “Labs just want to be the most helpful little helpers even when they are most certainly not.”
A fellow dog owner chimed in, “My dog does this. Any time he’s happy to see someone he picks up the nearest object to give to them as a token of his friendship.”
Sometimes, a Labrador retriever just has to carry something!
Although some Labrador retrievers may lack discernment when it comes to fetching objects, it would be slanderous to say that they’re not also often helpful. In fact, one senior Lab is known for carrying groceries inside for his owners. Even though he doesn’t get around as well as he used to, he still loves to pitch in around the house!
While this isn’t exactly the same as a Labrador retriever carrying trash down the street, we’re sure that both pooches had the same thoughtful motives. We may not always understand what dogs are thinking, but we can usually count on them to have the best intentions!
