Jim Brickman Shared The Good News About Olivia Newton-John’s “My Dream”

Jim, who was not just a collaborator but also a good friend of Olivia’s, told People that Olivia Newton John’s song, My Dream, has a touching story behind it.

“It all happened in one day at Olivia’s house in Malibu,” he said “First writing in the morning and then recording a quick demo in the afternoon at John Farrar’s, Olivia’s longtime collaborator’s, studio. The version you hear now is from that original session, a very relaxed and happy day.”

Jim said the song took on a deeper meaning during Olivia’s cancer battle.

“It started as a romantic duet,” he explained, “but has now become more significant as a theme that resonated with Olivia about her Dream and hope for a cure for cancer.”

Jim found the cassette tape recently and decided to release My Dream individually and donate 100% of the proceeds to the Oliva Newton-John Foundation Fund, run by her widow, John Easterling.

“How generous of Jim Brickman and their whole team for donating all the proceeds from this inspiring song,” John told People. “I mean, it wasn’t an accident that he found this song that they had done and never really put out. And it’s so timely with the results and the things that we’re seeing.”
