When an animal is sick or injured, it’s important that they get taken care of ASAP. That’s why 24/7 emergency vets exist. While places like this are life-saving, can you imagine how difficult it would be to transport an unwell horse? There are many hurdles that come with needing to transport an animal this large. This is just one of the reasons why it’s so awesome that New Zealand offers what is being called a horse ambulance!

Right now, you might be picturing an ambulance that’s the size of a horse — and, well, that’s pretty spot on! The New Zealand Horse Ambulance Trust is the perfect size for a horse to walk inside. Plus, there’s also plenty of room for veterinarians, and other folks who work with animals, to move around and do whatever is needed to keep the horse cared for on their journey. These horse ambulances were created to help race horses, since an injury is always possible at these sorts of events. But according to the above video, this ambulance system is one that is being implemented for any horse in need across the entirety of New Zealand — how cool is that!?

There’s no telling how many horses have received life-changing, or even life-saving, care thanks to these unique ambulances. It’s no wonder, then, that so many people are praising New Zealand for offering such a needed service.

“Oh my god. The hydraulics that lower it to ground level??? Amazing,” one person points out in the comment section of the video, with another adding, “That’s brilliant, we need them everywhere, omg.”
