“You have good qualities,” reads the text. “You are likable.”
The message continues, “Your friends don’t secretly hate you. You belong.”
What is a water bear?
Although this tiny water bear is undeniably magical-looking, you probably want to know what this creature actually is before you start taking life advice from it. According to Live Science, “water bear” is a nickname used to describe microorganisms called tardigrades. These practically imperceptible beings only grow to be about the size of a period. Their diet consists mainly of plants, fungi, and algae.
What makes these little guys especially cool is their ability to survive in the most inhospitable circumstances. When their environment lacks the proper conditions, like enough moisture or oxygen, they simply dehydrate themselves and effectively put their metabolism on pause. In this state, they can ride out a hundred years!
In other words, water bears know a thing or two about surviving difficult situations. So, if this microorganism believes that you can make it, then you should, too!
Commenters loved this scientist’s affirmations delivered via water bear. In fact, some people said they actually felt better after watching the video!
“I have had a rough day and this made me cry, in a good way,” wrote one user.
Another added, “Needed to hear that today. Thank you.”
We hope this water bear’s positive words inspire you to practice self-love!
