As you might imagine, a bit of chaos ensued when the raccoon first made their appearance. They did, after all, show up by dangling from a wire in the ceiling. But the creature didn’t stay here for long. Soon, they tumbled onto a suitcase, leaving folks to simply wait for their new animal friend to be ushered out of the airport. See this moment for yourself in the video below.

As chaotic as this moment was for everyone involved, the raccoon included, this unexpected story does have a good ending. For starters, absolutely no one got hurt. Plus, the Port Authority confirmed that the raccoon “was safely located and released outside, with no further sightings [reported].”

“I guess they let anyone fly Spirit,” Rowan Danaher, the person who captured this moment, writes.

Since this situation turned out okay, folks are finding the humor in it. This includes poking fun at the fact it took place at a Spirit Airlines gate specifically.

“Of course in front of Spirit,” someone writes in the comments, with another adding, “Spirts new mascot. They always sneak in/out.”

“Poor fella. It was already a chaotic commute for him through the ceiling. Now it breaks?!” a third person jokes. “What an unreliable ceiling.”
