Known as @lost.negatives online, this person searches thrift stores to find discarded film. Then, they scan the images and post them on the internet so that people can actually enjoy them. These photos provide such interesting glimpses into other people’s lives!

Here’s a great example. In the picture below, it looks like these women have just arrived at a beautiful travel destination. Doesn’t this image make you wonder who these people were and where they were going? Did they take this vacation together, or did they just happen to be near one another when someone else snapped the photo? What were they thinking about when they pulled up to this beautiful, mountainous location?
Some of the lost negatives that this artist finds are remarkably well-taken, while others are delightfully amateur. In this portrait of an elderly woman, you’ll notice that her eyes are closed. Nowadays, someone probably would have deleted that picture and snapped another. However, the original cameraman likely had no idea that the woman had blinked until it was too late to do anything about it. There’s something beautiful about this candid shot, though. We’re glad it survived!
