Olympic USA Artistic Swimmers Channel Michael Jackson For Epic Underwater Moonwalk

Olympic swimmers are upside down in the pool, feet above the water

With 40 different sports taking place at the Paris Olympics, it can be difficult to keep up with every exciting event. Some are widely talked about, like gymnastics and swimming. But did you know there’s an aquatic sport with a musical twist? It’s called Artistic Swimming, and it’s a stunning combination of swimming, music, and dancing. This sport was first introduced to the Olympics in 1984. But the United States team hasn’t won a medal since 2004… until now!

What seals the deal for this win, it seems, is the moment when the U.S. Olympic swimmers pull off a moonwalk so epic, you truly have to see it to believe it. Rather than delivering this move with their feet underwater, they do so with their feet in the air! Naturally, the music accompanying them is Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal. Catch a glimpse of this breathtaking routine in the video below!

Although the U.S. didn’t take home the gold, they did take home silver! This is something each swimmer is oh-so proud of — as they should be!

“It feels incredible,” U.S. swimmer Daniela Ramirez says. “I mean, this is everything to us. I’ve never been with a team that feels as magical as this and I just feel so grateful to be here with them and represent the country well. It feels amazing, to be honest.”

U.S. Olympic Swimmers Dazzle Everyone With Their Underwater Moonwalk

You can find another clip of their epic moonwalk on the official Olympic Twitter account. Though, it seems the music had to be replace for copyright reasons. So, instead, we have this hilarious version to enjoy!

Needless to say, the U.S. Artistic Swimming team just earned themselves a ton of new fans with this routine!

“I’m not sure how the other teams performed because I didn’t catch the broadcast, but based on what I see, Team USA gets the gold,” someone shares online, with another adding, “The swimmers are very special and athletic. Just terrific.”
