Some sights were meant to be viewed at night while others are best seen during the day. Then there is Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano mass. Located in Hawaii, it’s a key spot for visitors at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. While there is much to appreciate about the nature in this area, it’s no wonder Kilauea stands out the most. For starters, it has a 4,090-foot summit.

Then there’s the lava. Because it’s so active, we get lots of chances to witness the beauty of this Hawaiian volcano eruption — from a safe distance, of course. When Caroline Godard had the chance to take the Devastation Trail, she decided to get two very different videos of Kilauea. The first she took during the day and the other at night. See how these two clips turned out in the stunning video below!

“Kilauea erupting at night was even cooler than during the day,” Carolina concludes in the caption of her post.
For folks hoping to see Kilauea in person, this has been a particularly good week. An eruption began here around December 24 and continues to show no signs of stopping. At first, the intensity was low. But that changed on December 27.
Hawaiian Volcano’s Breathtaking Eruption Continues to Leave Us All in Awe
In just the past day, it has been said that the lava fountains are shooting up to 100 feet high! This eruption first started after a 4.3 magnitude earthquake. Hate that you’re missing out on this view in person? Good news! You can get the next best thing with the livestream below.
“Ah, I got to see this first hand in college and it was the coolest thing ever,” someone shares in the comments of Caroline’s video, with another adding, “I’m so jealous, went for my honeymoon in 2022 and the only part that was liquid was a tiny spot in the far corner.”
