Organist Beams With Joy Getting To Use The Full Power Of The Royal Albert Hall Organ

A woman smiles wide as she plays the organ. Text on the image reads: Surprise guest for AURORA's show at the Royal Albert Hall

Musicians like guitarists and drummers tend to get a lot of recognition for their talent — as they should! The skill it takes to play these instruments is impressive. That said, organists don’t get nearly enough recognition for their instrument. Anna Lapwood, a popular organist in the UK, is the perfect example of why we should appreciate this instrument more. Recently, she had the chance to play at the Royal Albert Hall.

This concert venue in the UK is the definition of iconic. It was first built in 1871 and, ever since then, has housed countless legendary acts. But when Anna performed, she was not alone. Instead, she collabed with AURORA, a beloved Norwegian singer-songwriter. The best moment of the night, hands down, was when Anna had the chance to play the organ at full power, something that is quite rare.

Normally, when playing with a non-amplified orchestra, Anna plays the organ at about 70% of its power. On the rare occasion where she gets to increase that power, it’s all the way up to 85 or 90% — and that’s exactly what she got to do during AURORA’s hit song, The Seed. Experience this powerful moment in the viral video below!

“I am still flying after last night’s show with AURORA [at] Royal Albert Hall,” Anna’s caption reads. “This moment was just unforgettable.”

UK Organist Leaves Royal Albert Hall Audience in Awe With Her Powerful Musical Addition to The Seed by AURORA

The powerful sounds of the organ are oh-so fitting for the rest of the music that accompanies this chilling song. It’s no wonder the audience goes wild when the song ends. Even Anna herself can’t help but giggle from this incredible moment!

“The power the organ holds will forever make my entire being buzz,” someone in the comments shares, putting to words what so many others feel. “I can’t [ever] describe it but it’s a feeling that comes with the term ‘moving mountains’ I guess I see organs as giants in music.”
