If you’re a Disney fan, you’re going to want to check out this clip! Watch the original Timon & Pumbaa from Disney’s The Lion King reunite to sing one of the catchiest tunes in history: “Hakuna Matata”

Nathan Lane, who played Timon, and Ernie Sabella, who voiced Pumbaa, are a match made in heaven. If this joyful and musical clip doesn’t make you smile, I don’t know what could!

To be able to perform the tune three decades later is no small feat. What a joy to see the way their performance translates in person!

The Event

This performance — The Lion King 30th Anniversary: A Live-to-Film Concert Event — took place at the Hollywood Bowl at the end of May 2024. The venue went all out to bring the animation to life, as you can see by the decked out stage!

As Nathan and Ernie sang, the lights on the concert hall showed animations from the film. Watch Timon and Pumbaa reunite with the backdrops they sang in front of in the original movie!

The duo was equally as hilarious in person as they are animated. Both have a significant list of acting and singing credits. Nathan Lane has been in The Addams Family Musical as well as Modern Family. Ernie Sabella appeared in Annie and The Challengers.

It’s been a joy to watch Timon and Pumbaa reunite. If they weren’t so talented, we wouldn’t have gotten a taste of this fabulous 30th Anniversary performance. What a fun celebration!

And, of course, it wouldn’t have been “Hakuna Matata” without the hilarious, kid-catered ending of the tune. If you’ve seen the movie, you know what to expect! And if you haven’t, you’ll be totally amused.

It’s not every day you see your two favorite characters reunite, but Timon and Pumbaa really brought the fun!
