Parents Have Cutest Kitchen Dance Session With Their Kiddos

Images show a family that loves to dance in the kitchen.

The kitchen is a gathering place in many homes. Families and friends gravitate to the kitchen, as if there is a magnetic attraction. Joshua and Janelle McAloon have three daughters, one boy, and a newborn son. They are on TikTok as Nelly and Josh, and the kitchen is where they get their groove on. Josh has a twin brother, Jason, who is also a frequent member of the kitchen dance sessions.

Kitchen dance sessions are a daily occurrence in the house. Both parents dance while preparing meals or doing the dishes. The kids will waltz in from the other room and join in. When Uncle Jason visits, he dances too. Nelly professes, “Our biggest flex in life will always be how we raised our babies in a dance in the kitchen type of house.”

In the video caption, Nelly notes, “We always feel better after a good kitchen dance session.” There is truth to that statement, and it is supported by scientific evidence. The act of dancing prompts the release of serotonin, a hormone associated with feelings of well-being. Other benefits include reducing stress and building new neural connections, which increase long-term memory, executive function, and spatial recognition.

There are additional physical benefits to the McAloon family’s kitchen dance sessions. Dancing improves heart and lung function, increases muscle strength, motor fitness, and endurance. Coordination, balance, and flexibility improve. Dancing can help build confidence, self-esteem, and assist with a healthy sense of well-being.

When the kitchen in your house is a gathering point, start dancing and see what your guests do. If they join in, keep them. If they look at you like you’re crazy, consider looking for new friends who know how to have fun.
