Getting in shape, sticking to a workout routine, and being persistent about it, can be hard to do when staying home and eating pizza sounds like a good way to relax after a long day.

However, one former bodyguard from Arizona has proven that you don’t need a fancy workout and diet program to get started on your weight loss journey. After losing a bet on tour, Pasquale “Pat” Brocco was forced to do 50 pushups on the spot, but he struggled to even complete one. Feeling like he couldn’t really protect the people that he was being paid to guard, Pat went home to see his doctor and find out what he had to do to get in shape.

That’s when Pat found out that at the age of 28-years-old, he weighed a total of 605 pounds and had blood pressure and cholesterol so high that it could kill him.
“I had never imagined I could get that big,” Pat told Ellen when he appeared on her show.

With a fiancé, two daughters, and a young son at home Pat knew he had to get his health and weight under control. He did not have the confidence to go to a gym and even if he did he would not be able to fit on a treadmill.
Instead, he started with the basics and set a goal that was tangible and simple enough to keep up with.
Possible Pat
Pat threw away all of the food in his house and decided that whenever it was time to eat he would have to walk to the nearest Walmart one mile away to buy everything he needed to cook a healthy meal when he returned home.
In the beginning it would take up to an hour and a half to walk a mile, but he continued with his routine and walked the six miles every day (2 miles per meal).
After 90 days of this new walking routine, Pat had lost an incredible 100 pounds of weight!
He started adding incline walks on a treadmill to his daily activity and before too long he was also lifting weights. Now three years later Pat has lost over 350 pounds and is on his way to becoming a bodybuilder.

Through maintaining small and measurable goals Pat created a consistency that led to huge results for his health. He went from being known as “Fat Pat” to “Possible Pat” and has never looked back.
Pat has also created a website where he is working to teach others that it’s possible to reach their weight loss goals.
At the end of his interview with Ellen she surprised him with a huge gift to help make his business dreams a reality.
