Patient Wildlife Photographer Gets Shot Of A Lifetime After Five Hour Wait

Two small bears rest in high in the trees

Imagine getting the opportunity to both work and live at a national park in the United States. For Stacy Onell, this dream is also her reality! Using her skills as a photographer, she’s able to take all sorts of breathtaking shots at Yellowstone National Park. Sometimes, the subjects of her images are easy to capture, but some wildlife encounters require a lot of patience.

That was certainly the case when Stacy came across a den belonging to a family of bears. It seemed as though, at any moment, the mama bear and her cubs would emerge. So, Stacy quietly waited at a distance, eager to capture the moment on camera. And while she ended up waiting for five whole hours, it was worth it for the results. Check out the footage below!

@sophoto0 I waited for 5 hours for them to come out & it was worth it !!! One of the best wildlife encounters I’ve had so far 🏔️ 📸💯 #yellowstonenationalpark doesn’t disappoint 🐻 #creatorsearchinsights #wildlifephotographer #wildlifephotography #wildlifeoftiktok ♬ sonido original – PMusik21

Wildlife Photographer Gets a Priceless Shot of a Mama Bear and Her Cubs

“I waited for 5 hours for them to come out & it was worth it!!!” Stacy writes in the caption of her video. “One of the best wildlife encounters I’ve had so far. Yellowstone National Park doesn’t disappoint.”

Adorable cubs like these are usually born within the first two months of hibernation. Then they continue to hang out with Mom in their dens for the rest of winter. During this time, the cubs focus on growing and getting nursed. That way, by the time March/April rolls around, they’re ready to explore more of the world!

Considering these cute creatures are too dangerous for us to get close to them, videos like the one Stacy shared are all the more appreciated. Just look at those tiny little ears!

“Seeing black bear cubs is always one of my best wild life spottings,” someone shares in reply to Stacy’s incredible footage, with another person adding, “We need to protect our national parks.”
