Inside Job: Police Department Apprehends Officer Accused Of “Stealing” In Silly Post

Wyandotte, Michigan, is a sleepy little suburb of Detroit. Nestled along the Detroit River, walking through the town is like stepping back in time. Main Street has stores and restaurants that have been the city’s foundation since its incorporation in 1867. Shop names may be new, but the vibe remains unchanged over time. The population is just over 25,000, and crime rates are low. The entire town was caught by surprise when a K9 was caught stealing.

The prime suspect, Officer Ice, was near the crime scene and had access to the stolen item, a sandwich belonging to fellow Officer Barwig. He was seen slowly exiting the break room and licking his chops right after the sandwich disappeared. While the evidence is circumstantial, it was enough to place Officer Ice in custody awaiting trial.

When the announcement news went live on Facebook, the community’s backlash was almost immediate. The Wyandotte Police Department received threats of massive protests if they did not drop the investigation and immediately release Officer Ice. Standing behind the now famous K9 officer, citizens stated he could not be guilty of stealing.

Citizens are defending the K9 patrol officer, claiming the K9 looks too innocent to be guilty of stealing. Local sandwich shop Lunch Wyandotte sent a special “reward” sandwich for Officer Ice and a bribe tray for his co-workers (even after accusing the K9 of stealing). Several lawyers offered to represent the dog pro-bone-o, pleading his complete innocence.

The overwhelming support left Wyandotte PD no choice. In a Facebook update posted several days after the initial announcement of the crime, WPD rescinded the charges. Officer Ice will return to duty with no further action.

Please share this happy ending for Officer Ice.
