The prank involved calling numbers on the Canadian East Coast. The goal was to see how long people would talk with a random stranger. Jax dialed, and an elderly woman answered. She began the call by saying, “Hey you, how you doing?” as if she were an old friend or family member. The woman admitted having trouble hearing Jax due to torrential rain showers.

The conversation shifted to the weather, of course. Staying in character, Jax said, “Well, I wanted to check-in. I heard you guys were getting buckets of rain!” Not realizing that Jax was a stranger, the grandmotherly woman answered that they were doing OK.

Jax asked about the previous year when storms ravaged coastal regions and about flooding in the basement. The woman said it wasn’t a problem but that she needed to replace her sump pump. They discussed the cost of the new pump, and Jax kept the conversation going.

When Jax asked the woman if she was returning to Emily’s. The woman responded, “No, I’m not going back over to Emily’s tonight.” The conversation shifted to supper plans. The woman said she wasn’t having supper because she stopped at McDonald’s and got a “chicken burger.”

The call ended after that, and Jax said goodbye. The elderly woman still had no clue that the call was a prank and she had been talking to a stranger. What a wholesome, totally Canadian, and pleasant exchange.
