Could there be anything cuter than a golden retriever and a kitten who are best friends? One pet owner caught the absolute sweetest footage of these two animals cuddling on the couch, and it will literally make your heart melt! This adorable clip proves that cats and dogs really can get along with each other. The way that this kitten crawled into the golden retriever’s lap, they almost seemed like parent and child!

In the video, the dog was minding their own business on the couch when a tiny cat decided to join them. Not content to lay down nearby, the creature climbed right on top of the larger animal. The kitten found a cozy spot curled up in the space between the golden retriever’s front and back legs. It was a perfect fit!
As soon as the little cat got settled, the dog started licking their face affectionately. Then, the golden retriever promptly resumed napping with the kitten nestled against them!

In fact, The Dodo even shared a video about them on X a couple of years ago. It seems that the family’s golden retriever has become excellent friends with the area’s wildlife!

Lorrie Brown, one of the humans behind Brown Hiking Trails, told the media outlet the sweet story of how her household befriended a deer named Buttons. Apparently, this poor animal was hit by a car and needed help recovering. So, Lorrie and her family volunteered to nurse the creature back to health. Although Buttons now lives in the wild, she remains close to the people who rescued her. In fact, she often knocks on the family’s door with her hooves!
Obviously, the Browns’ friendly dog is one of Buttons’ besties. That’s one of the things we love about golden retrievers — they seem to get along with everyone, from little kittens to wild animals!
