In typical royal family fashion, they’ve remained rather tight-lipped regarding Princess Kate and King Charles’ health. While we know both received cancer diagnoses, it remains unclear what type of cancer Kate had. She recently completed her treatment and announced her focus is to stay cancer-free. Her husband, Prince William, undoubtedly experienced a difficult time emotionally while his wife and father were sick. He recently broke his silence and called 2024 the “hardest year” of his life.

Princess Kate & King Charles Received Cancer Diagnoses Within Months Of Each Other
According to People, William told reporters at the end of his visit to Cape Town, South Africa, things were “dreadful.” He added his admiration for Princess Kate and King Charles for their strength during such a hard time.
“But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
William was in South Africa for the Earthshot Prize Awards. He launched the initiative in 2020 to promote environmentalism. Five individuals receive honors annually for their work toward saving the planet.
Willam said during the event that he became choked up.
“Hearing The Lion King and things like that gets me quite emotional,” he said. “So, when they started singing and … we were all there and it’s happened, I did feel quite emotional.” He added, “But the key thing is really the impact now. We need to translate the sort of effort that we put into the visibility of the prize and particularly the visibility of the solutions.”
William said that with Princess Kate and King Charles both undergoing cancer treatment, he had to balance work and home. But thankfully, he was able to do that.
“But it’s more a case of just crack on and you’ve got to keep going,” he said “I enjoy my work, and I enjoy pacing myself and keeping sure that I have got time for my family, too.”
