Every person has experienced someone exercising “selective hearing.” Husbands do it to their wives and kids. Cats are continuous practitioners. Dogs don’t typically display selective hearing. They’re too worried about missing a treat or a dropped morsel of food. That is not the case with Cooper, the bulldog. He totally ignored his owner until she said the magic word, “cheeseburglar.”

Cooper lay on his dog bed, pretending to be asleep. Mom tried to tempt him to go outside and play ball. The dog’s only response was a snore. She offered the “sleeping” pooch a ride, which most dogs love. Next, she tried a boud-boudin, whatever that is. Cooper still did little more than breathe.
When Mom asked, “Do you want to get (pause) a (pause) cheeseburglar?” Cooper immediately reacted by popping up, fully alert. His response proves, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that he was ignoring her earlier offers. There could not be a clearer example of the dog’s selective hearing than that!
Folks in the comments section are laughing at the magic word. Cooper has a McDonald’s addiction. We also discovered that a boud-boudin is a car’s sound, so that was another way of asking Cooper if he wanted a ride.
Cooper’s Mom posts many silly videos of Cooper and his brother Cash on TikTok. The two bulldogs haphazardly stumble through life, making us laugh at their antics. The pampered pups are definitely living their best life with their humans. Bulldogs are a special breed. They have their own personalities and little quirky behaviors. They will always keep you entertained.
Who expected that collision when Cash ran into Cooper?
Please share if you agree that Cooper, the dog, was using selective hearing.
