Queen Camilla Gets Candid When Asked If King Charles Will Step Back From Royal Duties

King Charles Royal Duties

Queen Elizabeth’s reign lasted 70 years from 192 until she died in 2022. She’s the longest-reigning monarch in British History and was well-respected worldwide. Following her death at age 96, her eldest son, Charles became king. It hasn’t been an easy reign for King Charles, who ascended the throne at age 73. He faced a cancer diagnosis at the same time as his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton. Thus far, King Charles has remained steadfast in his royal duties, but some wonder if that may change if his health declines. King Charles’s wife, Queen Camilla, claims her husband has no plans to slow down.

Queen Camilla Says King Charles Will Continue Royal Duties As Long As He Can

In an interview with the BBC, when asked whether King Charles would step down from his royal duties, his wife simply said, “Dream on.”

For many aging adults, activity keeps them young and alive. King Charles is apparently no different. Camilla said, “I think he loves his work, and it keeps him going. And I think it’s wonderful, you know, if you’ve been ill and you are recovering, you’re getting better, and now he wants to do more and more and more. That’s the problem.”

She added that while some advise King Charles should slow down and perhaps step back from some royal duties, he seems uninterested.

Camilla explained, “We’ve all tried! But as people will have seen the King enjoys his work, he enjoys engaging with as many people as possible.”

The royals recently celebrated their 20th anniversary, which the queen called a success because of their love and friendship.

Queen Camilla added that keeping herself King Charles busy with royal duties certainly helps.

“We are always going in different directions, like ships that pass in the night really. We whizz past each other.”
