All Quinn Waters wants to do is go out and play, just like any other kid. But after undergoing major surgery, the Massachusetts boy has been stuck inside, with a window serving as his only link to the outside world.

Shortly after Quinn’s third birthday, he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a cancerous tumor on his brain stem. The tiny fighter, nicknamed “Mighty Quinn,” has since had surgery to remove it as well as multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant.

Quinn is currently recovering and as such, isn’t allowed outside. But he’s still having a blast thanks to all his visitors on the other side of the glass.

Quinn started getting visitors at his window right after he returned home from the hospital. At first, they were family members. But when his mom Tara’s co-workers at the Quincy Police Department got wind of Quinn’s situation, they decided to pay the little boy a visit and even turned on their sirens for him!

After Tara posted about it on Facebook, she was stunned by all the messages that came flooding in. Others wanted to say hi to her son, too, including people offering to come dressed as superheroes, play music, or put on theatrical shows from his lawn.

Local firefighters drove over in their firetrucks and even let Quinn try on a helmet!

But even without cool gear, no visit ever fails to surprise and delight the adorable kid, who, despite his struggles, is still enjoying all the simple pleasure of being a child, even water balloon fights – just a little differently.

Quinn is looking forward to having a little more freedom by late August or early September. And in October, his family will take him to a doctor to determine whether he’s cancer-free. In the meantime, all his wonderful new friends are keeping him smiling.

“He’s doing so well that I think the boost of positivity is keeping him going,” Tara said.
