As far as animal friendships go, dolphins and dogs aren’t the most far-fetched pairing out there. However, one video proves that they’re definitely among the most adorable! One dog owner caught the sweetest footage of her special needs pooch, Beans, paying a visit to his underwater buddies at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Their reunion was beyond sweet!

In the precious clip, Beans went right up to the glass to see his friends. Unfortunately, due to his mobility issues, the pup fell over on his way there. Immediately, one of his dolphin pals, Izzy, swam over to make sure that the dog was ok. She even brought him a toy to cheer him up! Obviously, she couldn’t actually share it with him through the glass, but it’s the thought that counts.
Nicholas, the dog’s other dolphin friend, also showed concern for his fallen buddy. According to the social media caption from Karey J. Burek, Beans’ owner, both aquatic mammals swam by frequently to see if the pooch was alright. Although everyone watching thought these compassionate creatures were too adorable, it was the way that Izzy offered her own toy to Beans that really touched their hearts.
“They have a truly special friendship and it shows just how kind & compassionate animals can be,” wrote Karey.

As it turns out, neither Izzy nor Beans have had it easy. As Karey added in her caption, Clearwater Marine Aquarium says that the dolphin was rescued in 2022 “after years of illegal human interaction in the wild caused her health to decline and required intervention.” She now lives at the aquarium, which focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating our water-dwelling friends.
Meanwhile, Beans was born with a host of genetic health complications that make it difficult for him to get around. His owner shared in another post that he wasn’t expected to see his first birthday. However, he just turned two this January!
We’re not sure what it is that brings this adorable dog and his dolphin buddies together, but their friendship is certainly one-of-a-kind!
