The folks at National Marine Life Center absolutely adore the creatures in their care. That said, their ultimate goal is to send them back into the wild. That’s because the animals they bring in are those who are in need of rehabilitation. How long each animal stays there varies, but while they are there, it’s clear the staff does their best to ensure their rescued seals and sea turtles have a good visit.

Ever wonder what life is like for a rescued seal? Thanks to all of the fun videos that National Marine Life Center shares on their social media pages, we get an adorable sneak peak! Let’s start off by meeting a sweet little guy named Moon.

@nationalmarinelifecenter Don’t worry folks, he became a champion eater 💪🦭🐟 #sealsoftiktok #rescuerehabrelease #nationalmarinelifecenter #seal #fyp #foryoupage #kingjulian #marinewildlife #madagascar #mortmadagascar #iloveyoukingjulian ♬ original sound – Ring Tail

It seems that Moon is a bit of a slower eater. Though, there’s no need to worry. The center shares in the caption of their post that, “he became a champion eater.” In addition to being fed delicious fish, the seals at this center can expect lots of enrichment time. While there are fun toys to play with, sometimes, all you need is some ice.

In the wild, seals can often be found resting on ice. So, it’s no wonder that those in this center enjoy it, too. Not only does ice provide a nice sensory experience, but it can also be used for added hydration. This can be especially useful for the more active seals. Speaking of which, like humans, there are some seals who are more energetic than others…

There’s no doubt that it takes quite a bit of time, care, and money in order to nurse these rescued seals back to health. But there’s also no doubt that it’s worth every bit of effort and resource! We’re oh-so grateful that places like National Marine Life Center exist to help our animal friends live their best lives.
