Ringo Starr Believes Taylor Swift Created A New Wave Of Beatlemania

Ringo Starr Taylor Swift

When the Beatles entered the music scene in the 1960s, the world had never seen anything like them. The Fab Four changed the music world, and Beatlemania was a cultural phenomenon. Girls screamed, cried, and sometimes fainted when they saw George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr perform. Today, just two of the Beatles remain, and Ringo Starr believes that Taylor Swift has the same musical impact his band did years ago.

Taylor Swift Reminds Ringo Starr of Himself and His Former Beatles Bandmates

The former Beatles drummer told American Songwriter that Taylor is the 21st-century version of the Fab Four.

“I think Taylor Swift is great anyway,” Ringo Starr said. “She’s pulling them in, you know. When we talk about her, I always have to mention that the first time I met her, she was 14. She was at the Grammys with her mother. Then, I saw a photo of her the other day, just yesterday, of her and her mother.”

Ringo Starr said Taylor Swift’s mystical and cultural impact is more like the Beatles than any other musical act in recent history. And this isn’t new. Far Out Magazine reported that Ringo told ABC in 2009 how he felt, “I love Taylor Swift. That’s just how I am. I love her.”

Former Beatle Paul McCartney has the same feeling about Taylor Swift. Paul told the BBC in 2018 Taylor inspired him when writing Who Cares,

“I was actually thinking about Taylor Swift and her relationship to her young fans. It’s sort of a sisterly thing.” He said he used Taylor’s writing style to reach struggling listeners. “Who cares about you? Well, I do.”

We’re unsure if Ringo Starr had a chance to see Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour. But if he’s the kind of Swiftie we think he is, we’re sure he streamed it, at least.
