Roger The Therapy Cat’s “Extensive Lore” Will Warm Your Heart

A grey cat laying down on a chair.

Cat owners have been revealing their pet’s “extensive lore” on social media, and some of these backstories are actually quite sad. However, one heroic feline’s history is nothing but wholesome! For those not familiar with the “extensive lore” trend, these videos usually tell the story of a rescue cat’s life before they were adopted. They often include some pretty traumatic events! While this kitty has known his fair share of sorrow, it comes with the territory when you’re a therapy cat.

According to his “extensive lore” video on social media, Roger has been a therapy animal for eight years. That means it’s his job to comfort people during some of the scariest moments of their lives. Among his responsibilities, he has often “supervised the flu shots” and allowed distressed children to hold his paws.

In one heartbreaking experience, Roger provided emotional support to a grieving mother before her baby was removed from life support. Another time, he kept an elderly woman company while she was dying. This cat’s “extensive lore” reveals a lifetime of service and compassion. What an uplifting way to use this trend!

Why is the “extensive lore” trend controversial?

Originally, the “extensive lore” trend was created by a cat owner who had adopted a rescue named Lucille. In one of her videos, she explained some of the sad things her pet had experienced before she had a permanent home. Lucille went through a lot, so her new mom was grateful she could give the kitty a better life.

Unfortunately, the owner who started the trend is watching it transform into something far less edifying. In a later video, this young woman warned that some people have been using “extended lore” to talk about the ways they’ve harmed their own pets through neglectful behavior.

“Please, please take care of your pets,” she begged her followers.

Despite the more negative “extensive lore” videos out there, you can still find some pretty wholesome posts following this trend. Roger’s story is a great example!
