Ryan Reynolds Is Starstruck When He Gets Surprise Message From These Canadian Legends

Leading up to today’s release of Deadpool & Wolverine, tons of celebrities have shown their support for the movie. But during a recent interview, Ryan Reynolds was given quite the surprise. Turns out, a very special group had some kind words to share with him… and that group was none other than Nickelback! As you may know, this Canadian band has lots of fans and haters alike. In fact, the discourse around the band is exactly what made this moment in the interview possible.

Here’s more of the backstory: Although much of the “hate” for Nickelback is in good fun, it’s still real enough to have inspired quite a memorable scene in Deadpool 2. In the scene, actor Fred Savage’s character makes fun of Nickelback, prompting Deadpool to go on a rant about all of their well-earned accolades. Although the scene is pretty short, it clearly made a lasting impact. This can be seen in the format of Nickelback’s special message for Reynolds. In Deadpool fashion, the members of Nickelback list off all of Reynolds’ incredible accomplishments over the years. This includes Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and making history with the monetary success of the Deadpool movies.

“I love those guys,” Reynolds says before jokingly suggesting that him and co-star Hugh Jackman sing one of the band’s hit songs.

“Reynolds is the biggest star is Canada,” a fan in the comment section write, “Nickelback is the biggest rock band in Canada.”
