For more than 20 years, we’ve watched as Ryan Seacrest hosted American Idol. And for all 22 seasons, he’s had a very similar look. Ryan always had short hair, a clean-shaven face, and a snazzy wardrobe. This look also followed him to his hosting gig on Wheel of Fortune. So it’s no surprise that fans didn’t quite know how to take Ryan’s new appearance when a new promo dropped for American Idol Season 23 in early January. Not only was he sporting more casual attire, but Ryan also had a beard and longer hair. It’s not a bad look, but it’s definitely not the Ryan Seacrest American Idol fans know and love. Ryan’s mom appears in the promo and calls herself his “biggest fan.” But she doesn’t say a word about his appearance.

“American Idol” Fans Had Mixed Reactions To The New Ryan Seacrest
Facial hair has certainly had a moment in the last few years, and Ryan might be capitalizing on its popularity. But not everyone is so sure that it’s his look.
The look shocked these fans.
One person wrote, “Ryan with the facial hair!! But how sweet was that?!!”
And this person agreed, “Bearded @ryanseacrest wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card.”
Can’t wait for the new season of @americanidol!”
This fan wondered if Ryan recorded this promo a while back because he doesn’t seem to have the same look now. “This must be old, he doesn’t have a beard now.”
These fans are all about Ryan Seacrest and the new look.
“Ryan Seacrest is the greatest gift to radio and television. So iconic and sweet and professional. Long live ‘American Idol,'” someone wrote.
And this person is all about Ryan 2025. “Love the beard and longer hair.”
We can dream, right? “I want to look like Ryan when I grow up.”
