Samuel L. Jackson’s Wife Stuck By His Side During Very Tough Times
Samuel L. Jackson went to rehab in 1991 after his wife and daughter found him passed out on the floor. He said he’s been sober for 33 years.
“My best friend from high school was a drug counselor, and my wife called him, and I was in rehab the next day. I didn’t go kicking and screaming because I was tired,” he recalled.
But even at his worst, LaTanya Richardson stayed by his side.
“Everybody’s got flaws, and not giving up when it would be easy to give up. I’ve done s— in my marriage that’s crazy, you know? She has, too, in her head, or whatever in reality, but you got to go, “Is that a breakup offense?” Or is it just that we need to spend a little time together and get some understanding about it?
He said his wife also has flaws, too. Together, the pair has been able to ignore the things about each other that drive them crazy.
For Samuel, that means staying busy working. “And one of the things she had to accept is that I’m going to go to work. I’m going to go to work all the time until, you know, it’s time.”
His new film, The Piano Lesson, premieres in theatres on November 8 and will hit Netflix on November 22.
