There have been some big changes at the Today Show, including Hoda Kotb’s exit and the addition of Jenna and Friends. Even though we love the hosts, sometimes, they need a break, too. And when they do, it’s not uncommon for a guest host to come in for the day. Savannah Guthrie recently sat down with Tom Hanks for an interview and popped the question. She invited the Forrest Gump star to co-anchor with her on Today. A bit caught off guard by the proposal, Tom joked, “Wouldn’t that be great?” Tom said before he shut Savannah down. “I’m not getting up that early, lady.”

Tom Hanks Said He’s Too Crabby To Host “Today“
While it’s hard to imagine a crabby Tom, he told Savannah he’s just not a morning person.
“And I am not reading all that research,” he said.
Savannah pressed, “We’ll do it as a gag.”
Out of nowhere, Tom Hanks agreed to a short-term gig for Today. “No, I’m sorry. It would have to be for the full week.”
Tom warned Savannah by Friday, he’d be pretty cranky.
“Your cranky is like everyone else’s best day,” Savannah said.
“I will say when I’m cranky, I’m pretty damn hilarious. I must say,” Tom admitted.
Today, he posted the Tom Hanks interview on Instagram, and his fans instantly began campaigning for him to host.
One wrote, “Please let Tom Hanks be on Today Show.”
This person agreed, “Omg would love that.. and then The Best have Craig come in on Friday too!!!”
Another fan offered to buy lunch, “Tom, we’ll buy you first egg sandwich ( which now will be more than a steak dinner) together with a large coffee to keep those eyes open.”
