Saxophone Player’s Performance Turns Into Unexpected Duet When Dog Joins In

Image shows a saxophone playing busker in NY's Central Park as a dalmatian dog howls to the music.

There is nothing like the dulcet tones of a well-played tenor saxophone. It is almost magical when coupled with the natural acoustics under an arched viaduct. Passersby enjoyed the music of a busker on a path in New York’s Central Park as they walked through the Greywacke Arch. When a dog walker stopped with her dalmatian, more magic happened. The saxophone player laid out his smooth melodies, and the dog joined in!

The surprising duet was quite harmonic. Unlike a dog’s random howling, which communicates a warning or a call to pack members, this dog seemed to have a sense of pitch and timbre. The dog’s sound ranged from alto to tenor, following the music almost perfectly. As the tenor sax player continued his melody, the dog howled along in tune.

The Dalmatian’s owner appears to be filming. Several other people spotted the cuteness and also began filming. User Cas.dav posted a different view of the performance on TikTok. They filmed the saxophone and dog duet as they were walking through the arch from the opposite direction.

We’re not sure who the saxophone player or dog owner is. What we find amazing is that this saxophone and dog combination has performed together before! The above video was posted on October 30, 2024. We found another clip with the same sax player in a different jacket, dated December 30, 2022.

The dog’s howling complimented the saxophone music beautifully. While dog people will tell you that dogs howl at things they dislike, we think this dog was feeling the music. It is incredible that they have returned to the same location more than once with the same result.

Please share if you enjoyed this saxophone and dog duet.
