As Hurricane Milton closes in on the Florida coast, millions of people are doing what they can to prepare. As a result, social media is full of people sharing their own journeys. There are those evacuating, of course, but then there are unique circumstances, like those who are currently passengers on a cruise ship. Then there are folks like Annie. She’s documenting what theme parks are doing to prepare for this once Category 5 and now Category 4 hurricane.

Because Hurricane Milton is expected to hit much of Florida, many popular theme parks are directly in its path. This includes Universal Orlando. According to their website, as of writing this article, the park will close early today at 2 p.m. and will remain closed tomorrow, October 10. This means their popular event, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida, is also canceled both nights.

Closing the parks will help keep guests safe, of course. But that’s not all that needs to be done to prepare for Hurricane Milton. In the video above, Annie gives a glimpse into what the park looks like as the storm nears. Many signs and props have been stored away, and objects that can’t be moved are covered with plastic wrap. It’s a bit of an eerie sight to see the park this way, but it’s nice to know precautions are being taken.

Guests Share How Theme Parks in Florida Are Preparing for Hurricane Milton

“I was just there on the 5th before the hurricane. It’s crazy how much has changed,” someone shares in the comment section, with another adding, “They even take the high parts of the roller coaster off.”

According to the park’s latest update, they hope to reopen on Friday, October 11. But this will depend on the outcome of the storm, of course, so stay tuned in case anything changes. Stay safe, everyone!
