Pets are an integral part of many families. We get them as puppies and kittens, knowing they won’t be around forever. So we love on them while we have them, and in return, we get so much more. The unconditional love of a dog and the judgy stares of a cat brighten our days. We can teach them tricks, and sometimes they can help with chores. Many people with larger dogs teach them to help with carrying groceries.

Today’s featured guest is George, an 11-year-old yellow Labrador who is described as “forever the best boy.” However, as George ages, he doesn’t get around as well. He moves slowly when he moves but still insists on helping the other dogs carry groceries in. George rides in his custom transport buggy on longer trips to keep him comfortable.

We aren’t sure if this first video is a celebration of continuing life for George or a remembrance. The clip uses a narration from the movie “Marley & Me,” in which Marley dies at the end. Either way, it tells the tale of a dog carrying groceries with all his heart and soul. As he returns to the house with his burden, his tail constantly goes. His hobbling gait causes a sort of helicopter motion, but it’s still wagging. He is truly “forever the best boy.”

If you have lived with an aging dog, you have seen their dedication and unconditional love. They will do anything for a pat on the head and to hear, “You’re such a good boi!” Give them all the love if you have an aging dog. Although they have been your world for many years, you have been their world for their entire life.
