Each year, Super Bowl ads amaze us in some of the best and weirdest ways. With the big game just three days away, a number of commercials have already been released. This includes a When Harry Met Sally throwback, a twist on the Fast and Furious franchise, and the iconic Clydesdale from Budweiser. Still, none of these compare to the bizarre commercial that features Shania Twain.

For this Super Bowl ad, Twain is partnering with Coffee Mate. They carry a number of tasty creamers and iced coffees, of course. But the product they focus on in this ad is called Cold Foam Creamer. And the way they do so is… well, it’s certainly unique. I’d tell you more but, honestly, you simply need to see it for yourself. Besides, there’s nothing that can truly prepare you for what you’re about it see. Check it out below!

In case you were too distracted by all of the weird tongue dancing, Shania Twain wasn’t physically in this commercial. She was, however, the voice of the singing tongue. That’s right, the tongue is meant to be singing in that bizarre sequence. But as weird as this Super Bowl ad is to just about anyone who watches it, Twain herself stands by it.

People Have a Lot of Feelings About Coffee Mate’s Super Bowl Ad Featuring Shania Twain

“It’s just a really great bop and it sticks in your head,” Twain says. “It’s one of those crazy, definitely can’t-get-it-outta-your-head type of songs, so I already knew that that was a winner. Putting the visual and the music together got me in a real character spirit. I’m like, ‘OK, right now in my mind, while I’m singing the song, I am a dancing tongue.'”

Still not sold on this unsettling commercial? There is one more interesting detail about it that might have you viewing it at least a bit differently. According to Twain, recording the song for it actually gave her the inspiration needed to work on more of her own music again!

“It was fun doing the Cold Foam ad because that’s the latest song I’ve recorded, and it gave me the itch,” she explains. “It’s like, ‘OK, yeah, I’m ready to get in there and start recording new music.'”
